While we have been focussing mostly on the future in this post, implantable medical M2M technology is already here. The HeartAssist5 is a remote monitoring device that is implanted in patients suffering from heart conditions. This device continuously sends to data to secure servers, which can then be remotely reviewed by physicians. This device can help prevent further heart complications before they even happen, and has been an invaluable resource for doctors and patients alike. While the device is currently only available in Europe, it is under review by the FDA for use on patients in the United States.
