Telecommunications Relies Heavily on Remote Monitoring Systems
How often do you use your smartphone throughout the day? If you’re anything like the average person, you are probably on your phone more than you would like to admit. Here at MazikThings, we pass no judgement on how often you are on your phone. Personally, we use our phones as much as or more than most people, so we understand that these devices are a part of people’s’ lives. In our previous post, we briefly touched upon the ways that telecommunications companies are utilizing remote monitoring systems to make sure that their base transceiver stations are properly functioning. In today’s post, we are going to shed a little more light on how these systems help telecommunications companies maintain their networks, and we hope that by the end of this post you have a better understanding of just how remote monitoring systems are used in the world of telecom.
Remote Monitoring Systems Make Everything Easier
Imagine for a moment that you are the head of a telecommunications company and you have base transceiver stations scattered across the country. Is it efficient to have workers visit each of these stations to make sure they are performing as they should be? Of course not. It would be much easier if the bases themselves could report on how they are performing. Luckily, remote monitoring systems allow bases to do just that. Below, we have listed a few of the parameters that our remote monitoring systems can control.
- Temperature Monitoring: When it comes to telecommunications equipment, temperature is always a variable that needs to be monitored. Often, the components used in the telecommunications industry are extremely sensitive and must be kept within certain temperature parameters to properly function. Through the use of remote monitoring systems, telecommunications controllers are are able to better monitor system temperatures on a nationwide scale, adjusting individual bases on a case by case basis. Not only do remote monitoring systems make it easier to control temperatures from a central location, it greatly reduces the need for a person to physically visit a base location to inspect it.
- Security: As you can probably imagine, the equipment located in telecommunication base transceiver stations is not cheap. Because of this, telecommunications companies must spend time and energy to ensure that their base transceiver stations are properly monitored from a security standpoint. Through the use of remote monitoring systems, telecom companies are able to consolidate information from various security sensors, making it easier to ensure that the BTS has not become compromised. Again, without remote monitoring systems, telecommunication companies would have to send a worker to each station to make sure that the security systems were still properly functioning
We hope that this short blog series has shown you just how important remote monitoring systems are in the world of telecommunication.
